Back In Action!

It has been long since last time I posted here. I was on a long family trip and got caught up between making art and taking care of some family stuff.
I had a three months internship with Rising Sun Energy Center in Berkeley (March 10th - June 10th) then went to Dubai to see the family.. then to Syria where we had our family get-together .. we went to Turkey (this is when my computer crashed) .. back to Damascus.. then back to the UAE!

right now i am in the process of saving the non backed-up stuff on my laptop and finishing up a couple of projects that I have started.

while in Syria, I heard about some Syrian Illustrator sort of a deal. A book is being put together featuring the talents of artists from that region.. I got in.. and currently working on some comic pages for the project.

more to come..

Birthday Card

This is a piece I did for my buddy Charlie for his Birthday (March 6th).
Ox-Head is designed by Charlie Mok for his Thesis Project.
The mighty keeper of hell’s gates took a break that day, put on his orange shirt, and joined our little party!

Orange is Charlie’s favorite color, and blue is the color of hell in Chinese mythology

Gassam

This is from an adaptation that I was working on about 3 years ago. Gassam is a little boy who couldn't fight the mesmerization of the yummy snacks he was supposed to watch after. The clothing and environment is based on the old city of Damascus (where the original story comes from).

Iblis/ still.. work in progress!

Iblis/ work in progress

I haven’t been able to finish any pieces lately, but did a lot of drawings. As I was looking through the drawings I did in the past month or so I picked a couple that can be pushed further.
This was done on a 17” *14” piece of paper. I had to scan the drawing in pieces and patch it together on Photoshop, which was not fun!
When I drew this I wasn’t really intending to have a fully colored piece. Right now I am experimenting with different colors and compositions on Photoshop, and planning to bring it to finish.Iblis is the Arabic name of Lucifer.

Somewhere in Time (study)

I haven’t been able to post any of my new stuff. At the current time I am working on a couple of graphic design commissions and preparing to start teaching hopefully in March.

I want to get on to the habit of uploading something everyday. This is my version of Iron Maiden’s Eddie from the "Somewhere in Time" era.
